What are the minimum system requirements
to run the software? |

The minimum system requirements for the CV-2100
Companion are:
- Microsoft Windows 95, 98, Me, NT (SP4),
2000, and Windows XP 1
- 256MB RAM
- Ethernet interface
- Screen resolution of 800 x 600 using Small
Fonts
- MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components
2.8 or greater) – available from CV-2100
Companion Setup Utility.
- Microsoft Jet 4.0 database engine – available
from the CV-2100
Companion Setup Utility.
Windows XP is recommended. Support for Windows
95, 98, Me, and NT is limited.

How do I install the CV-2100 Companion software? |
|
| A. |
There are two methods of installing the CV-2100
Companion Software. The recommended method of
installation makes use of the CV-2100
Companion Setup Utility. The CV-2100 Companion
Setup Utility automatically detects the versions
of MDAC and Jet installed on your PC and allows
the user to install them prior to installing
the CV-2100 Companion software.
The second method requires that the user has
already installed:
After these components have been installed,
you may install just the CV-2100
Companion PC Ethernet Interface.
Both of these methods will install a 30-day
trial version of the software. Detailed instructions
on installing the CV-2100 Companion software
are available in the software
user's guide.

How do I download and install CV-2100 Companion
updates? |

Download software update releases from our downloads
page. Unzip the Setup.zip file and run
the setup.exe program. This will install the
software update without affecting your license
status.

How do I connect my CV-2100 to my PC? |
|
| A. |
You can communicate with your CV using the CV-2100
Companion software. You may connect your PC and
the CV-2100 by:
- directly connecting your PC to the CV-2100
without going through a local area network
(LAN) . Use the OP-42275 cross cable available
from Keyence.
- connecting both your CV-2100 and your
PC to a local area network (LAN). Please
consult with the systems administrator or
network administrator during this process
to ensure proper setup.
Before your CV-2100 can communicate over an
Ethernet connection, you must configure it's
Ethernet settings. To change or view the Ethernet
settings from the CV-2100:
- select Environmental Settings from the
Setup Menu
- select Ethernet from the Environmental
Settings Menu
- change or view the Ethernet IP address
and/or port from here

Why am I am being asked to supply a Remote Host
(IP) and a Remote Port the first time the software
is run? |
|

The first time you run the CV-2100 Companion
software you will be asked to provide the Remote
Host (IP) and the Remote Port of the CV-2100.
These are the IP address and port number of the
CV-2100, respectively.
To change or view the Ethernet settings from
the CV-2100:
- select Environmental Settings from the
Setup Menu
- select Ethernet from the Environmental
Settings Menu
- change or view the Ethernet IP address
and/or port from here
We highly recommend that you obtain the assistance
of your company's IT department to properly
configure an IP address and port number that
is compatible with your local area network
(LAN).

CV-2100 User's Guide.
